About this event
For 10 years, Plano Flags of Honor has filled Oak Point Park with a field of American flags to honor the veterans and first responders whose service keeps us safe and free. Each flag carries a dedication card telling the story of a hero, from the Civil War to the present day: family members, friends and neighbors, living and deceased, many of whom made the ultimate sacrifice. Walk the field and read their stories.
Hear Taps at dusk, and return at night, when the flags seem to tell their own stories. The field is free and open to everyone, all week long. Planned Activities and Programs – Open to the Public • Colors of Courage Opening Ceremony • Patriots Run 5K and Fun Run - https://events.visitplano.com/event/2026-patriots-run-5k-and-fun-run • Safety Fair & Touch-a-Truck, Fire Truck Pull and Helicopter Landing - https://events.visitplano.com/event/safety-fair-touch-a-truck • Tethered Hot Air Balloon Rides ($25, weather permitting) • Stars and Stripes Car Show and Vettes 4 Vets Car Show • Texas Medal of Honor Circle and Collin County Fallen Hero Display • 3rd Infantry Living Historians Encampment and Texas Sons of the American Revolution • Marine Corps Birthday Cake Cutting Ceremony • Patriot PAWS Service Dog Demonstration • Plano Children's Chorale and Taps Performances • Quilts of Valor, Congressional Award Ceremony and Boy Scouts Flag Retirement • Food Trucks and more!
